Bringing Back A Local Farm Stand

We’re bringing Middlebury’s former Field Farm back to life and back in service for Route 7 travelers and the local community in Addison County, Vermont. Through soil regeneration, pasture rotation, and expanding the market gardens, we strive to raise healthy, sustainable, fresh food that is free from harmful pesticides & herbicides for our local community and ourselves.

Reasons You’ll Love It…Again.

Fresh & Clean

Fill your market basket with super fresh produce and flowers in our farm stand.

All of your favorites

We pick our crops at their very peak of perfection, and have them ready to grab and go for your next fabulous meal.

Convenience +

Enjoy generous parking and step into our handsome weatherproof farm stand.

We're just south of Downtown Middlebury

Easy in and out on Route 7 just south of downtown Middlebury, our farm stand has good parking and is always staffed to meet your arrival.

Our Variety

We grow the very foods we eat, and share the bounty with you.

Something for everyone

Our gardens are always in various stages of production with everyone’s favorite veggies and blooms plus random and interesting delectables to spice up your favorite recipes.

We practice soil regeneration, crop and pastured livestock rotation, and on-farm composting.

Transparent, Sustainable Practices

Our efforts to build sustainable and healthy soils result in tasty and nutrient-packed vegetables, eggs, herbs, and edible flowers. Every scrap of every product grown on this farm is put to use.

We grow for our local neighbors and those passing through our beautiful town of Middlebury.

We're here for you

Step into our farm stand and we’ll be there to greet you and answer any questions about our veggies, flowers, and other wares – like how to coax out the best flavor, storage, recipes, etc.

So Much Love

Feeding the soul is important. Everything grown, cooked, and eaten at the farm is created with love, and you can taste it.

We practice what we preach

Our food, flowers, herbs, and animals are raised with tractor-loads of love. From seed to sow (both kinds of ‘sow’!) we honor and respect the entire process of raising clean, happy crops and ‘stocks.

Where to Find Us

South of Downtown Middlebury on Route 7

Locals may remember this idyllic little farm as the Field Farm. A Middlebury welcome wagon of sorts for travelers heading north on Route 7 from Rutland and beyond, and surrounded by hay fields and mountain vistas looking East. The farm has a great indoor farm stand and commercial kitchen, harkening from a number of farmers over the years growing, cooking, and purveying their wares amid sprawling tidy market gardens and quaint, ancient small barns. As your hosts, we look forward to welcoming you and being your neighborhood farm stand.

Farm Stand Hours

We hope to open to the public in the Fall of 2020. A staffed farm stand – and staffed by the farmers themselves – we aim to host afternoons two days a week, with longer hours on Saturdays.

What We Grow

We grow a variety of high quality vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers in season and attractively priced. We also sell eggs produced by our pastured laying hens, and offer whole and half hog shares in Spring for a Fall delivery. We may even entertain a turkey flock for Thanksgiving tables.

How We Grow

Mostly worked by hand, the market gardens are regularly fortified with compost, castings, and occasional amendments to bring the soil up to par and keep the plants healthy and productive. We plant something new in just-harvested beds, whether edibles or cover crops. There’s always something making use of the sun, rain, and healthy soil. Animals are rotated regularly through surrounding fields to increase the fertility and stability of the soil, and make excellent use of cover and forage crops. We are working to become an Organically Certified and Animal Welfare Approved farm for food you can feel really, really good about.

Who We Are

Next Chapter Farm LLC is owned and operated by Lara Dickson, the voice of this website. I started raising pigs in 2015 in Berlin, Vermont, and in 2019 finally settled on the outskirts of Middlebury at the former Field Farm. My sister and 12 year old niece arrived in 2019 to round out the venture, and are excited to embark on the “next chapter” of their own lives amid piglets, baby chicks, and seedlings. As your farmer, I look forward to meeting you…and feeding you!
